What does your role as a community outreach program manager entail?

As a community outreach program manager, my role is to advocate for clients in the justice system who have made bad decisions due to untreated mental health and/or addiction. I am the link between jail/court and treatment.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

Ten years ago, while I was in active addiction and receiving treatment, I had an amazing counselor whose compassion and dedication truly changed my life. Her support and guidance inspired me to pursue this field myself. I wanted to have a similar positive impact on others’ lives and be a steppingstone on their journey to recovery, just like she was for me.

What led you to work for the Modern Psych team?

When I was considering where I wanted to work, I knew I wanted to join a team that was truly making a difference and helping people. I had a friend who worked at a women’s house, and I heard so many good things about her time there. That inspired me to become part of the Modern Psych team, and I have loved my job since I started!

How would you describe the company culture at Modern Psych?

After five years as part of the Modern Psychiatry & Wellness team, I can honestly say the culture here truly feels like family. Every day, I feel valued and supported, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact we’re making in the community.

What is the most unique part about working for Modern Psych?

The most unique part about working for Modern Psychiatry is that our CEO leads with faith and love, which passes on to the rest of the staff. I know without a doubt that when I refer someone to our program, they are going to be loved and taken care of.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job would be seeing the light come back in someone’s eyes who has been lost in addiction. There are days when the work is hard, and it takes a psychological toll on you, but ultimately, it’s the stories of transformation and hope that keep me going.
