What is your career and educational background?
I have accumulated 17 years of extensive experience in substance use treatment, demonstrating a strong commitment to helping individuals overcome addiction. My educational background includes an associate degree in education, Health, and Society from Miami University, as well as a bachelor’s degree of Science in Social Work from the same prestigious institution. Currently, I am actively pursuing my master’s degree in social work at Miami University, further enhancing my expertise and skills in the field.
What is your role at Modern Psych and what does your job entail?
I offer invaluable support to clients through Spiritual Counseling, employing the transformative framework of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Additionally, I provide essential SUD Counseling to individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder, guiding them on their path to recovery. As part of my contributions, I have co-facilitated Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) groups, fostering an environment of shared healing and growth. Presently, I am actively engaged in leading Anger Management Groups, imparting crucial skills for emotional regulation and conflict resolution. Furthermore, I am eagerly awaiting approval from the esteemed Social Work Licensing Board to embark on my new venture of facilitating Mental Health Groups.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I have a deep conviction and calling to serve individuals who face the challenges of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder. This commitment is rooted in my personal journey as a recovering individual with long-term recovery. Tragically, I have experienced the profound loss of a father, a sister, and a nephew to Substance Use, which has fueled my tireless dedication to becoming an advocate for all those who suffer from Mental Health and Substance Use. My personal experiences have shaped my purpose to support and uplift fellow human beings in their journey towards healing and well-being.
