Joe McCoy brings heart, strength, and lived experience to his role as Assistant Housing Manager at Modern Psych. His journey hasn’t been easy—but it’s one that inspires the work he does every single day.

After spending 30 years in addiction and spending time in treatment centers across the country, Joe found a new direction. What he learned through recovery inspired him to support others facing similar struggles. With his CDCA certification and firsthand understanding, Joe offers more than guidance—he offers hope.

June 2025 marks five years since Joe joined the Modern Psych team. He was already working elsewhere when he earned his CDCA and shared the news on Facebook. That’s when two former employees reached out and asked if he’d consider joining Modern Psych. Joe credits that moment to a combination of faith and timing.

In his role, Joe oversees mentors, manages payroll and monthly billing, and works closely with clients. He’s always looking for ways to improve housing and ensure both staff and residents feel supported.

Ask Joe what stands out most about working here, and he’ll tell you: the people. The team, his coworkers, the clients—they’re his favorite part of the job. For Joe, the real reward is seeing lives change and showing others that recovery is possible.

We’re proud to have Joe on our team and grateful for the light he brings to Modern Psych every day.
