Modern Psychiatry and Wellness is proud to have a team of dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to provide exceptional care and support to our patients. This month, we’re shining a light on one such devoted team member, Dawn Kearns, one of our front desk support staff who plays a critical role in ensuring smooth operations and patient satisfaction. We sat down with Dawn and are overjoyed to share her story.
What is your role at Modern Psych?
As part of the front desk support staff, my job is providing behind the scenes support by answering calls, pulling OARRS reports, and processing Radeas lab reports. I also schedule and send links for appointments, collect co-pays, process record requests, process/upload JotForm on-line applications, and take care of check-out sheets.
What is your educational and career background?
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in Social Work with LSW licensure.
What led you to work for the Modern Psych team?
I had worked at the front desk at my previous job. When Christy Morris (Former Assistant Director of Housing Services) heard I was looking for a new part-time job, she referred me here. I also had the opportunity to work with Dr. Moss when I worked for the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities as a Support Coordinator with one of my clients. I knew he was an excellent psychiatrist, so I appreciated the work being done at Modern Psych.
What is Your favorite part of your job?
Knowing that I am helping to get someone connected to the services that they need! Whether someone is coming into Modern Psych as a walk-in or sending them a referral sheet with other resources. It can be scary to reach out for help, and I try to be as encouraging as possible when talking to new clients on the phone.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
My mom worked at P&G in the early 60s—Dawn dish soap was in the developmental stages. She liked the name, and I was born early in the morning. Their other name choice was April, but I was born in May, so Dawn it was!
