Meet Nikki Neudecker, Director of Case Management at Modern Psychiatry & Wellness! Since joining MPW in November 2023, Nikki has grown through several roles within the organization, bringing her passion for social work, problem-solving, and helping others to each position.
Today, she leads case management services across the organization while continuing to find new ways to improve processes and support both staff and clients. Take a look at Nikki’s journey with MPW and learn more about the experiences that have shaped her career.
What are your career and educational background?
I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Cincinnati in 2021 and then immediately entered the Advanced Standing Master of Social Work program at The Ohio State University, graduating with my MSW in May 2022.
Before joining Modern Psychiatry & Wellness, I worked at Talbert House in a men’s halfway house in Lebanon, Ohio. I joined MPW in November 2023 as a Behavioral Health Clinician and have since had the opportunity to grow into several different roles within the organization.
I am currently independently licensed as an LISW-S and LICDC.
What is your role at Modern Psych and what does your job entail?
As Director of Case Management, I oversee case management services across the organization and work closely with our case management coordinators and staff to support quality, consistency, and compliance in the services we provide.
A large part of my role involves staff development, problem-solving, reviewing documentation and productivity, developing processes and resources, and collaborating with other departments to make sure our teams have what they need to effectively serve our clients.
No two days are quite the same, which is one of the things I enjoy about the role.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
I actually started college as a chemistry major! During my sophomore year, I realized that while I enjoyed learning, I wasn’t passionate about chemistry and couldn’t see myself building a career around it.
I had always been interested in subjects like psychology and sociology, so I started exploring other options and discovered social work. What initially drew me to the field was its versatility and the number of different directions a social work degree could take me; as well as having two aunts who are also social workers.
I switched majors during the second semester of my sophomore year, and that decision ultimately led me to the work I do today.
What led you to work for the Modern Psych team?
My original supervisor at Talbert House transitioned to Modern Psychiatry & Wellness, and we stayed in touch after he left.
About six months later, an opportunity came up for me to join the team at MPW and work under his supervision again. Having already had a positive experience working with him made the decision to make the move much easier, and I joined MPW in November 2023.
What is the most unique part about working for Modern Psych?
One of the most unique parts of working at Modern Psych has been the variety of experiences and opportunities I’ve been able to be a part of. I’ve had the opportunity to grow into different roles, work with a variety of programs and populations, help develop new initiatives, and continually take on things that challenge me professionally.
At the same time, I’ve gotten to participate in experiences I never would have expected when I started my career in social work, including attending a community resource fair where the Bengals’ mascot showed up!
There is always something new happening, and I’ve been able to learn and grow in ways I didn’t necessarily anticipate when I first joined MPW.
What is Your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is having the opportunity to create and improve things. I really enjoy identifying an area where we could be doing something differently or more effectively, figuring out what that could look like, and then developing a process, resource, or new initiative to address it.
I like being able to take an idea from the problem-solving stage through implementation and see it actually make a difference for staff and the clients we serve.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know/fun fact about yourself.
I’m a huge Formula 1 racing fan! My favorite team is Mercedes, and my favorite driver is Kimi Antonelli. I follow the races throughout the season and probably own more F1 and Mercedes merch than I need. Since recently getting engaged, I’ve also been trying to find subtle ways to sneak a little Formula 1 into the wedding.
