What are your career and educational background?

I have my CDCA certification and have taken college coursework in psychology. My career has grown right here in recovery housing. I’ve worked as a mentor, shift lead, recovery housing assistant, and now Assistant Housing Manager. Each role has taught me something new and helped me grow in leadership, communication, and how to support people during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.

What is your role at Modern Psych and what does your job entail?

As the Assistant Housing Manager, I help with the day-to-day operations of the recovery house and work to make sure it’s a safe and supportive place for both residents and staff. I spend a lot of time mentoring clients, supporting staff, helping in crisis situations when they come up, coaching, and holding residents accountable while they learn life skills and grow in their recovery.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

I’ve always had a heart for helping people. My own experiences with addiction and mental health have given me a deep understanding of what it feels like to be in a really dark place. I truly believe God has guided my steps the entire way, using my lived experiences to shape me into who I am today and prepare me for this work. Being able to walk alongside others and help them find hope, purpose, and their own light means everything to me.

I’ve been with Modern Psych for four years now. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow here, not just professionally, but personally too, and to keep doing work I’m passionate about.

What led you to work for the Modern Psych team?

I’ve been with Modern Psych for four years, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to grow here, not only professionally, but personally as well, while continuing to do work, I’m truly passionate about.

What led me to this career was a desire to do more and make a meaningful impact. I wanted to use my story and my past for something good, and to be able to support others along their own journeys. I especially love that this program is faith-based and offers a relaxed, home-like environment for clients. The genuine connections built here between staff and clients create real trust, allowing for lasting impact and truly life-changing growth.

How would you describe the company culture at Modern Psych?

The culture at Modern Psych is strong and full of heart. Everyone truly cares about helping others and supporting one another. It’s very team-oriented and honestly feels a lot like family sometimes.

Being part of a faith-based program that focuses on real, lasting transformation is what makes this work so special. It’s powerful to watch lives change from the inside out, not just on the surface.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part is seeing the light come back on in a client’s eyes after they’ve been in the dark for so long. Watching someone start to believe in themselves again and step into who they’re meant to be is something I never take for granted.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.

I love using analogies for just about everything in life. I also enjoy painting and adding encouraging words to my art. I’m a very visual person, so seeing words and images that inspire me really makes me smile.
